2012 College Round-Up
Sat, 10 Mar 2012 08:00:00 +0000

YES THERE WILL BE A COLLEGE ROUND-UP IN MARCH OF 2012

AND YOU'RE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE!

Each year The Black Heritage Museum & Cultural Center, Inc. holds it annual College Round-Up event in Tarboro, North Carolina.

Our next event will take place on Saturday, March 10, 2012. As in previous years it will be held on the Tarboro Campus of Edgecombe Community College located at 2009 West Wilson Street, Tarboro, NC 27886. The event will start at 8 am and end at 4 pm.

The College Round-Up has grown into having attendance at approximately 2,400 students, parents, guardians, and educators. Students from all over have been in attendance, travelling from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, other areas within North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Colorado, California, and Washington, D.C.

For Colleges & Universities: Your participation will encourage and inspire the students in attendance to continue to strive for and secure a postsecondary education. Through its College Round-Up program, so far The Black Heritage Museum & Cultural Center has helped over 2,000 students realize their dream of a postsecondary education.

Though they had the desire, for a number of reasons most were students who never thought that it would be possible for them to attend college.

There is no fee for your college or university to participate in this event, but we do ask that you waive your application fee for that day and that there be representatives present from your organization in admissions and financial aid desicion making authority.

Our students will come prepared with transcripts and scores, and each year many are accepted on the spot. We would like for you to come to the College Round-Up prepared to make those types of decisions.

Visit our website at www.bhmacc.org.

For Students: If you are thinking that college was out of the question or out of your reach, give it a little more thought. Attend the College Round-Up event for an opportunity to meet face-to-face with college representatives who would like to help YOU find a way to get accepted into college.

You'll have a chance to interact with colleges and universities as they make every effort to assist you with the application and financial aid processes needed to attend their institutions.

If you are a senior, please bring multiple copies of your high school transcripts. Application fees are waived on the day of the event, at the event only, which means you can apply to, and possibly be accepted to, multiples colleges in one day. A number of the colleges and universities are offering scholarships and other financial assistance.

Visit our website at www.bhmacc.org. Share this information with your parents or guardian, and your school counselor. Take this chance for yourself. Take a chance on yourself. Take advantage of this opportunity to get into college.

For Parents or Guardians: This is an invitation for you and your high school child(ren) to attend the Annual College Round-Up event on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Edgecombe Community College's Tarboro Campus in Tarboro, North Carolina. On site registration begins at 8:00 a.m, programs begin at 9:00 a.m.

The College Round-Up is a program of the Education Division of The Black Heritage Museum & Cultural Center, Inc. and places its primary focus on assisting high school students who have felt that college was unattainable, or that they have not prepared themselves academically for college but have a strong desire to attend.

The College Round-Up program gives your child the opportunity to meet face-to-face with colleges and universities that are prepared to make every effort to assist students with the application and financial aid process needed to attend their institutions. Most importantly they hold the decision-making authority to admit students attending College Round-Up "on the spot", Saturday, March 10, 2012.

· If your child is a high school senior, make sure they bring enough copies of their official high school transcripts to submit to the colleges and universities to which they wish to apply.

· Parent/guardian, please make every effort to accompany your child to the event. Your assistance can ensure the completion of a more thorough admissions and financial aid package.

· Application fees will be waived only during the College Round-Up on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

· Please assist your child in completing the Registration Form.

· Please feel free to share this information and registration with other parents and students.

Even if you feel your finances and your child's academics may be insurmountable barriers, you should attend the Annual College Round-Up to explore the possibilities. This may be the opportunity of a lifetime for your child to get a college education.

Visit our website at www.bhmacc.org. We look forward to seeing you and your college bound student at the College Round-Up!

For High School Teachers, Counselors, and Administrators: School Officials play an important role in the success of our children's postsecondary school access. At the College Round-Up we rely on the work of Guidance Counselors, Principals, Teachers, Superintendents in our efforts to assure that all children who want a chance to go to college has the opportunity.

We are inviting you to bring your students to the College Round-Up event on Saturday, March 10, 2012 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Edgecombe Community College's Tarboro Campus in Tarboro, North Carolina.

The College Round-Up is a program of the Education Division of The Black Heritage Museum & Cultural Center, Inc. and places its primary focus on assisting high school students who have felt that college was unattainable, or students who did not adequately prepare themselves (academically) for college but have a strong desire to attend.

The College Round-Up program provides "face-to-face interviews" with colleges and universities that are prepared to make every effort to assist students with the application and financial aid process needed to attend their institutions. Representatives from admissions and financial aid departments have had tremendous success in placing students who have participated in the program.

In addition to a prominent guest speaker and important community partners, career development professionals, mentors and counselors will be on hand throughout the day to assist students and families, in a positive environment, which we hope will facilitate and greatly improve their chance for acceptance into college or university.

We are asking that your school administration support the College Round-Up by making sure students, particularly Juniors and Seniors, are aware of this event. The benefits that students receive have been described as immeasurable. In fact, high school seniors have been accepted "on the spot" (when providing sufficient information to complete the admissions and financial aid process). For some students, this event has been described as an opportunity of a lifetime.

We strongly urge that high schools seniors bring multiple copies of their transcripts. The Colleges and Universities waive their application fees at the program only. We also suggest that a parent or guardian attend the College Round-Up with their child in order everyone involved to have a clearer picture of the financial issues the students face.

When you accept our invitation to attend and participate in the College Round-Up event, you will receive additional details that will help your organization have a positive experience with us.

We look forward to seeing you in March of 2012!
